We collect nothing about you and send nothing about you anywhere. The site saves five small settings in your own browser so it can remember which game you picked, your filters and your spin count between visits; those never leave your device. There is one exception to all of this, and it is the honest headline of the page: the site carries Google advertising, and Google sets its own cookies through it. That part is described in full below.

What this site does not do

No analytics of any kind, and no attempt to work out who you are or how often you come back.
No accounts, no sign-up, no email list, no newsletter.
No cookies of our own. Not one. The only cookies on this site come from Google, and only through the advertising described in Advertising below.
No third-party requests except that advertising. Every font, image, style and script the site itself needs comes from this domain; Google's ad script is the single exception, and it is named rather than hidden.
No profile of you exists here or anywhere else, because nothing is collected to build one from.

What is saved in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember a few preferences. This is not a cookie: local storage is never attached to network requests, so the contents are readable only by this site running in your own browser. Nothing here is transmitted anywhere.

All five are plain numbers and settings. None of them is an identifier, and none of them can be used to recognise you, here or on any other site. They persist until you clear them. The cookie and storage page explains how to remove them, and what happens if your browser blocks storage entirely (short answer: everything still works).

What happens when you spin

The generator runs entirely inside your browser, from a challenge file that loads with the page. No spin is sent anywhere. There is no server making the choice, so there is nothing for one to log.

Shared links and share images

When you share a challenge, the challenge is identified by the part of the link after the #, for example viceroulette.com/#c=141. Browsers never send that part of a link to a server. Your friend's browser reads it and shows the same card.

The share image is drawn on the fly in your own browser and handed straight to your device's share sheet or clipboard. It is not uploaded anywhere. Where you send it afterwards, and what that app does with it, is between you and that app.

Advertising

This site is free, and advertising is what pays for it. The network is Google AdSense. Google's script loads on every page of this site from pagead2.googlesyndication.com, which means Google's servers see the request your browser makes: your IP address, the page you are on, and the usual details any web server receives.

Google uses cookies and similar storage to serve ads, to cap how often you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad worked. Depending on your settings and where you live, those ads may be personalised using data Google has collected about you elsewhere, which is Google's doing and not ours: we send Google nothing about you, and we get nothing back about you either. No report, no list, no profile. What Google does with the data it gathers is set out in how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can turn personalised advertising off for your own Google account at My Ad Centre.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message from Google appears before advertising cookies are used, and you can refuse. Refusing means you see non-personalised ads rather than none: the site still works exactly the same, and nothing else about your visit changes.

Hosting

Other than Google's advertising, nothing on this site is loaded from anyone else: the fonts, the artwork, the styles and the app itself are all served from this domain, so no other company learns that you visited.

The site is a set of static files served by a hosting provider. Like every web host on earth, it has to process your request in order to send the page back, and it keeps its own short-lived operational and security logs to do that and to fend off attacks. That is the host's own processing, not ours. No analytics product, tag manager or visitor-measurement tool has been added on top of it by us.

If you email us

If you write to hello@viceroulette.com, we have your message and the address you sent it from, because that is how email works. The address is used to reply to you and for nothing else: no list, no newsletter, and it is never passed on. Messages are deleted once the thing they were about is dealt with.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and nothing is collected from anyone, so nothing is collected from a child either. If a young person emails us, that message is handled exactly like any other and deleted when it has been dealt with.

Your rights over your data

Wherever you live, you have rights over personal data a site holds about you: to see it, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to it being used. Those rights are honoured here, but there is almost nothing for them to act on.

Data held about you on our side: none, unless you have emailed us, in which case it is that email thread and nothing more. Ask and it is deleted.
Data held by Google: ours to point at, not to hand over. Use My Ad Centre and Google's privacy policy, which carry the controls and the request routes we cannot operate on your behalf.
Data held in your browser: the four keys above. They are yours already. Clearing your browser data for this site deletes them instantly, with no need to ask anyone.

To make a request, or to complain about how any of this works, email hello@viceroulette.com. If your local law gives you the right to complain to a data protection regulator, nothing here takes that away.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, on the same day, and the date at the top is updated. There is no version of this that quietly starts collecting something.
